Towards the RAPP Platform design and architecture
Providing a robust and efficient infrastructure for cross-robot applications can be an intensive and quite complex procedure. However, as this concept is the central pillar of the technical part of the RAPP project, a lot of work has been done towards designing an efficient architecture. In a truly collaborative manner, CERTH, INRIA, ORTELIO WUT, and all partners of the RAPP consortium, planned a well thought-out architecture that resonate both the complexity of the problem as well as the distributed nature of the provided solution. As a research project, this effort went beyond the state-of-the-art in robotics, by elaborating on a combined cloud – robot infrastructure, able to support remote and distributed computing of the end applications, also presented as a research paper in a workshop in the IROS conference.
